A Post Medieval silver hammered sixpence of Elizabeth I (AD 1558- 1603). The coin is dated AD 1561, pheon mintmark. See Spink (2011) p254, numbers 2559 to 2561B for similar examples. Weight: 2.34g; Diameter: 26.5mm; Die Axis: 3 O'clock.
Notes:
The coin may be a copy as the surface appears to be silvered; the surface is worn in some patches and it is possible to see a darker surface underneath.
