Lead and iron steelyard weight. Cast sub-spherical weight with an embedded iron loop of rectangular section [of thickness 8mm] with one end protruding from the opposite side - though its angular section might be acquired through the flaking of corrosion, the surface of the iron appears atypically sound. An iron chain link, again of rectangular section [of thickness 4mm] with two right-angled kinks, passes through the loop. Suggested date: Roman, 43-410.
Diameter: 37mm, Height (suspended): 83mm, Weight: c.245gms.
