A complete Post-Medieval to Modern cast copper-alloy cup weight belonging to nested set (c. 1500-c.1900). This weight is circular in plan. Its sides flare evenly upwards from the base to a rim. Within the centre of the weight is a circumferential groove. There are no visible stamps or markings. The base of the weight is slightly concave in the centre.
These types of weights were used for weighing gold and silver in the form of coin, small objects or as scrap metal or other precious materials (Saunders 2001, 125).
