A cast copper-alloy strap fitting or belt mount of Post-Medieval date. It has a flat, rectangular plate that on each side has two large semi-circular notches. At each end the front face has a single transverse groove with triangular notches where the groove and edge of plate meet, as well as along each end of the plate. Further pairs of small triangular notches are present at the centre of each side between the semi-circular notches. On the back face of the plate each end has an integrally cast copper-alloy pin or lug that is rectangular in form and folded at an angle of 90 degrees so that the tips of each lug meet at the centre of the back face forming a rectangular aperture with the plate. The entire object measures 25.54mm in length, 12.16mm in width, 1.51mm in thickness and 4.20g in weight. This is an incomplete strap mount or fitting of Post-Medieval date with near identical examples recorded through thePAS database (e.g. SOM-A49DA0 or DENO-62C053 (with references)). It is of probable 16th-17th century AD date.
