An incomplete cast copper-alloy hooked tag of Post-Medieval date. It has a shield shaped plate with the remains of an incomplete but integrally cast sewing lup at the top. The front face has incised decoration comprising a single grooved border, within which is an extremely worn central motif of uncertain form, but seemingly cross shaped(?) in appearance. From the base of the plate extends an integral hook with double transverse collar at the juncture with the plate. This is D-shaped in section and curls backwards to a sharp point. The entire object measures 24.07mm in length, 10.55mm in width, 1.18mm in thickness, and 1.13g in weight.
This is an incomplete and worn hooked tag of Post-Meieval date. It seems to find its closest parallel in terms of form with an example published by Read (2008: no. 316) and placed by him in his Early Post-Medieval Class E, Type 2 hooked tags. However, the current example is not a close match in terms of decorative elements. It is likely to be of similar date, c.16th-17th centuries AD.
