A copper alloy buckle of Meols Type 2 dating from about AD 1250 - 1350. It is D shaped with a slightly expanded outer edge, and a recessed and offset bar with a knop at each end. The bar is very worn. There is a copper alloy pin surviving which is sub-square in cross-section and is looped round the bar. The pin is incomplete. Compare page 84 of the Meols Catalogue. The buckle is 14.5mm long, 15.5mm wide and 4.4mm thick across the pin loop. 1.03g.
