A complete machine drawn silver thimble of Post Medieval to Modern dating (19th to 20th Centuries AD).
The thimble consists of a tall conical shape, with a rounded top. Circular indentations cover the top two thirds of the thimble and have been arranged in neat horizontal lines. Below the indentations are five arches with cross hatched decoration inside and stamped triangles around the upper edge. The base of the thimble has been rolled over. No maker's marks are present.
The thimble measures 21.4 mm in length, 15.5 mm in diameter and the walls are 1.1 mm thick. It weighs 1.6 grams.
The thimble is mid to dark grey colour, with an even surface patina.
Machine drawn thimbles are less than 300 years old and therefore do not come over the requirements of the 1996 Treasure Act and is therefore not considered to be Treasure.
