Medieval copper alloy buckle: oval frame with deep (3mm) sheet outside edge with pin notch and a separate bar set in holes in the offset ends of the sides; short wire pin (too short to rest in the notch); rectangular sheet plate folded widthways with pin slot and frame recesses, single rivet-hole with copper alloy rivet and containing remains of the cloth strap. Frame, length 14mm, width 14mm. Plate, length 18mm, width 11mm. Combined length 27.5mm. Post-Roman buckle frames with separate bars are not common, see other Norfolk examples (NMS-C2C281 and NMS-2CDDD6), and a large flimsy example from a mid 14th-century context in York (Ottaway and Rogers 2002, 2893-4, fig. 1469 no. 14099). Probably 14th or 15th century.
