Fragment of penannular copper alloy middle Bronze Age spiral twisted torc. The fragment is 68.5mm long, 54mm of which is comprised of a twisted spiral with curved peaks (5.8mm thick) and troughs (4.5mm thick), and the remainder is narrowed to a circular section (3.2mm in diameter). The fragment has a dark green to black patina with old breaks at either end. Based on the curvature of this fragment the estimated original diameter of the whole torc would be approximately 220mm. The find is paralleled by examples found in the 'Near Lewes' hoard in 2011 cf. SUSS-C5D042 which date to the middle Bronze Age.
