Post Medieval (1792) seal: The lead or lead alloy seal is sub-oval and has an inscription on both faces. The seal has two sub-rectangular holes running through the seal so that the holes are visible on the sides. In section the seal is a sub-rectangular with rounded and lipped corners. The obverse reads the Quality Control Officer 'A Д / BЩOг / OAFB / H 6[ ]'. The reverse reads 'NP / PB12K / 1792'. The surface of the seal has a light brown coloured patina. The seal measures 22.72mm long, 20.19mm wide and 5.07mm thick. It weighs 13.79g.

These types of seal were used as a means to monitor and ensure the quality of products such as flax hemp from Russia. The origin of this seal is unknown.

On the obverse the first line is the initials L D in Cyrillic lettering. The second and third lines are the initial and surname of the Quality Control Officer and the fourth line may represent the workplace of the Officer (Sullivan, 2000, p. 220). The reverse has the initials N P in Roman letters, the second line has initials of the type of product/seal and the third line is the date (ibid.). The seal dates to 1792. This is a early example of a Russian bag seal (ibid.).
