Copper alloy brooch. Copper alloy brooch of flat, enamelled disc (sexfoil) type, Mackreth Type British Plate 2.b. A circular plate has what Mackreth describes as a hexagon with concave sides with a lobe extending out from each corner and ending in a pellet, all in the same degree of relief. The hexagon is filled with brick red enamel with a central circular pellet. There are slight traces of white material in the field between the lobed hexagon and the outer rim. The back bears the stubs of paired lugs to retain pin gear and the stub of a catch plate opposite them. Suggested date: AD 80-250.
