A cast lead alloy spindle whorl or weight probably dating to the Medieval period. It has a domed shape with a flat base.. There is a tapering sub-circular hole running through it, slightly off centre which has an internal diameter of 8.1 - 9.5mm. Plain spindle whorls and weights are found in contexts dating from the Roman period through to the Post-Medieval period, however most are typically dated to the Medieval period.
The weight is 22.6mm in diameter, 13.8mm high, 40.6 grams.
