A fragment of possibly Roman ceramic greyware jar (AD 43-410). The sherd is a wheel thrown rim fragment of a coarse dark grey ware with well sorted sand and or quartzite inclusion. The center of the fabric is darker than the outside, suggeting a slip. The rim sherd is broken: The rim is flat this a sharp bend through 90 degrees to a horizontal neck before broadening to a 45 degree shoulder.
The sherd is 83.2mm wide, 41.3mm high, 7.7mm thick and weighs 44.18 grams.
