Post medieval tin-alloy (pewter) button of 16th century date

The button is of domed, 'pimple' form with integral, looped shank and is complete but slightly distorted (with a length of 17.9mm and a weight of 3.3g). The head is solid and of hemispherical form (with a diameter of 11.2mm and a height of 5.6mm) with cast decoration comprising bold radiating ribs converging towards a cross containing a central knop at the apex. The shaft is oval section with a circular loop at its end (with an external diameter of 8.9mm and and an internal diameter of 4.3mm). The surface has a silver-grey corrosion.

Notes:

The metallurgy of the button was analysed to ascertain the composition, because it appeared to containing silver and therefore may need to be considered under the 1996 Treasure Act. The analysis was undertaken using X-ray fluorescence, the results are not semi-quantitative but indicate that the alloy is a pewter, lead - tin alloy with only trace levels of silver.
