Detachable copper alloy deeply waisted half-round side knob from an Early Saxon Cruciform brooch with part of the iron pin bar within central perforation. There is a slot across the proximal end to accommodate the edge of the headplate. The waist lies between two pairs of grooves, both with knurling or a row of short transverse engraved grooves in the gap between the grooves. Length, width and thickness 12.3, 11.4 and 9mm. Weight 7.09g. Late 5th century.
