A fragment of Roman Bow Brooch of uncertain type.
The brooch is fragmentary, surviving as the head only (with a surviving length of 15.36mm, a surviving width of 19.8mm and a weight of 8.62g). The missing spring was secured between perforated lugs (central lug still present). The bow has straight convergent sides for the short distance to the break and was of oval section (with a width at the head of 15.3mm and a width at the break of 11.7mm). Corrosion and wear has removed all detail from the brooch and none of the decorative features are now evident. The surface has a dark-brown patina.
