Post medieval copper alloy knife fitting (end stop) probably of late 16th or 17th century date

The fitting is complete and includes part of the knife tang (with an overall length of 14.0mm, a thickness of 5.7mm and a weight of 3.6g). The base has a V-shaped groove containing the top of the knife tang (7mm long and 3mm into the terminal). The fitting is of Y-shaped, bifid form, with an oval sectioned projection on each side (giving a width of 15.2mm) and thinning slightly to the terminals. The terminals were enhanced with a grooved border. The base of the fitting also had a decorative grooved border. The knife fitting is heavily-corroded and stripped to the red-brown metal.
