An early post-medieval (1550-1650) copper alloy double-oval buckle frame with ornate outside edge, complete with copper alloy pin. It measures 37.3mm in length and 21.7mm in width, the loops angled upwards slightly from the central bar. It weighs 4.48g and the internal measurements of the loops are x.11x13mm and the buckle weighs 4.48g.
Each loop has moulded decoration in the form of six depressions and a triangular projection at the centre of the outside edge. The patina is grey where it survives, and where it does not the metal beneath is a bright green.
The pin is of the same copper alloy, D-shaped in cross-section and narrows from 3.9mm wide to 1.5mm wide at the rounded point. It has a pair of moulded transverse ribs to the front of the pin, situated just beyond the strap bar around which it curls.
