Possibly, a copper alloy intaglio bezel for a Roman finger ring dating to AD 43-410 or the bezel for an intaglio in the centre of a Roman plate brooch dating to AD 100-300. The beze; is oval with narrow raised rims round the edge of each side. The rim of one side is deeper than on the other side. Presumbly, there was originally an intaglio in the depression framed by the deeper rim and the whole frame attached by the back to a finger ring or brooch. The patina is mid green and the bezel was silvered.
