A medieval to post-medieval (1350-1600) copper alloy double oval buckle frame, incomplete in so far as it is missing its pin. It measures 32.8x22.4mm (internal surviving loops c.12x21mm) and weighs 2.99g. The loops are angled upwards from the central bar, which is triangular in cross-section. The loops are also triangular in cross-section, with a flat underside and a short inside edge.
Notes:
Examples of this type of buckle frame from London (Egan and Pritchard 1991 nos.331 to 342) date from the second half of the fourteenth to the second half of the fifteenth century, but as the form persists a later date cannot be ruled out.
