The length is 30mm, the width is 17mm and the weight 3.82g. This object is a cast copper alloy spectacle buckle dating to the post medieval period (c. AD 1660-1720). The object is incomplete, only part of the pin is present attached to a wide strap bar but is in fair condition. There is a upstanding stud on one side of the buckle attached to a folded sheet plate. The loops are oval in form with a D-shaped cross-section which expands to a slight curved point on the outer edges of the frame. Strong similarities are shared with figure 442, page 51, Ross Whitehead. 2003. Buckles 1250-1800. Greenlight Witham, Essex. Other similar objects include SWYOR-B7A627 and PUBLIC-E7C4F6.
