An incomplete copper alloy medieval daggerchape, dating to the period AD1200-1400.The chape consists of a folded piece of sheet metal, which has now become unattached along the length. It is a rounded rectangle in section, and there is a perforation near to the top on the back edge, potentially for suspension. The front edge scoops downwards towards the centre, and would have curved back up to the same level of the back edge, but it has been broken. There is a worn break along the bottom edge. There is a green patina on the surface, and the object is fairly worn.

The length is 37.99mm, the width is 18.30mm, the thickness is 8.37mm and the weight is 6.51g.

A parallel on the database is BH-B69DC4 which states that De Reuck dates sheet metal chapes of this type to the 13th and 14th centuries (see Geake 2001: Ill. 31).

A similar exampleis p.192 1071 and 1074 in Egan, G. (2005) Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition, MoLAS Monograph 19.
