Roman copper alloy bracelet, probably of late 3rd or 4th century date.
The bracelet is of cable type and is fragmentary with approximately half represented and is without either terminal (with a surviving length of 61.3mm and a weight of 6.6g). The bracelet is of sub-square section (4.5mm - 5.0mm square) and has little curvature for the majority of the surviving fragment, perhaps suggesting an original sub-rectangular form. The cable bracelet comprises two intertwined strands of rectangular section (1.1mm x 3.2mm). The surface of the bracelet is corroded with a dark-green patina.
The bracelet can be paralleled with examples excavated at Colchester (Crummy 1983, p 38, nos. 1610-1613) and elsewhere. The Colchester examples were recovered from 4th and early 5th century burial deposits.
