An incomplete possible strapfitting of probable medieval date dating circa (AD 1250-1500). The object may also be a harness pendant or a hinged fitting.The objectconsists of two sub rectangular plates held together at the upper edge by a hinge fitting. One plate is shorter than the other and is decorated with a single incised horizontal rib running across the centre of the plate. Below the rib the decoration is a number of small incised lines transversing the lower edge. The other plate hangs lower than the other and does not appear to contain any decoration. A soil imbedded corrosion product covers the object and it is has dark green to brown in patina.
The fragment measures 32.7mm length, 8.8mm width is 2.3mm thick and weighs 5.04 grams.
