Copper alloy late Saxon, Williams Class A, type 1 stirrup strap mount. The main body of the mount is rectangular with a triangular apex. There are small knops approximately halfway up either side with further knops on the two upper corners and halfway up the triangular apex. The rounded point of the triangular top section is pierced by a circular hole forming a loop as the means of attachment. There are two further circular holes one on either side of the basal corners, one of which is blocked with iron corrosion. On the back of the base edge there is a narrow perpendicular ledge. The front face has a silver inlaid design depicting two bound and addorsed serpentine-like beasts. Dimensions: Length 47.28mm, width 30.2mm, weight 21.4g. Circa 1030-1080 AD.
