A complete copper-alloy closed thimble probable 'Lofting'type of Post Medieval date (c. AD 1693-1800).The thimble may be that of a child, it has a domed crown from which the body tapers gently, terminating in a thin band at the rim. The thimble has a waffle-shaped crown pattern with the indentations on the crown being rectangular in shape. The indentations on the body are more oval shaped and regular probably the result of having been turned on a lathe. There is no decoration or makers mark visible on the thimble. It has a dark-green patina. It measures 13.8 mm high,14.2 mm in diameter at base, 0.8 mm thick and weighs1.6 grams..
