Discussion:
These coins display varying conditions of ware. The coins of john range from fine to very fine condition, while the final Henry III class 7a coin is in extremely fine condition, suggesting that the hoard was lost not long after the minting of this final coin.
This hoard would be consistent with a purse loss and as there are more than two coins with a precious metal content greater than 10%, all found within close proximity to each other, means that these items are classed as a coin hoard and therefore qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
