A complete post-Medieval gold plated copper-alloy military button (1803-c. 1808).

A button of the Newport Loyal Volunteers of the Isle of Wight.

The button is circular in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. At the front it has a crown over initial letters: N·L·V in serifed capitals (Newport Loyal Volunteers). At the rear there is an attachment loop.

Diameter: 15.0mm; height: 2.1mm; height including loop: 7.7mm. Weight: 1.95g.
