Circumstances of discovery: whilst metal detecting
Description: An incomplete silver posy ring. Only part of the finger-ring remains, the fragment has also been flattened out. The outside of the finger-ring is decorated with a scroll motif which was probably once filled with enamel. The inside of the posy ring has the upper-case inscription 'YOVRS' followed by an engraved scroll.

Discussion: A posy ring dated to the 16th to 17th century with comparable scroll decoration and the upper-case inscription 'IN TEMPORE CAVE' can be found on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database (NLM-BE8630, Treasure reference: 2007 T120).
Conclusion: This object is made from at least 10% precious metal and is over 300 years old and therefore qualifies as Treasure as defined by the Treasure Act 1996.
