TREASURE CASE : 2015 T129.
A simple silver finger-ring, comprising a slender circular band with flat inner face and ribbed (corrugated) external surface. The ribbed motif is found on jewellery of both the Roman and Viking eras.
Date: probably Roman or Viking.
Dimensions: Diameter, external 20.5 mm, internal 17.5 mm.
Weight: 2.87 g.
Non-destructive surface metal analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated a silver content of approximately 97%.
In age and precious metal content the object qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the 1996 Treasure Act.
