The mount is decorated with four panels containing U shaped recesses arranged in pairs facing each other. between the panels and on the ourside of the panels are strips inlaid with niello and decorated with a wavy line. The metal has a patchy green colour with areas of red metal showing. The mount is 61.7mm long, 15.1mm wide and 2.3mm thick across the plate. The longest rivet is 6.5mm long. 12.01g.
A very similar mount but with different decoration is LIN-2861A2. Compare also sword and sheath fittings on page 42 of Appels and Laycock.
