Late Saxon copper alloy socketed hook from a strap distributor in rather abraded condition. It comprises a terminal ring socket with cruciform decoration moulded on the expanded upper part of the mouth socket. On the lower part of the mouth socket an integral perpendicular arm projects that terminates in a broken collared loop. Extant length 34mm. Width 18mm. 11th century. Two examples of such socketed hooks have been found in Lincolnshire (LIN-F29FC4) attached to a strap distributor comprising a convex disc with three evenly spaced circular holes.
