A middle to late Anglo-Saxon copper alloy strap end of Thomas' (2003) Class A, Type 2, split attachment-end with twin copper alloy rivets holes, now broken. The face is decorated with faint paterning now too worn to discern, but possibly involving curvilinear and geometric patterns. The worn animal-head terminal has engraved ears, and with twin oblique notches on both sides forming the stylised eyes. These strap ends dominated the cheaper end of the market (Thomas 2003:2) and can be dated to c. AD 750-950.
