Probable roughout for a an axehead of Neolithic date

The roughout is complete and is comparably small for an axehead (with a length of 114.3mm and a weight of 199.4g) and is bifacially worked. Much of the flaking is directed from the edges and has not significantly thinned the roughout (with a maximum thickness of 32.7mm), with one of the faces (ventral) being considerably flatter. The roughout is of oval form, with convex sides (reaching a maximum width of 52.2mm) and with no obvious suggestion of a blade. The stone has some recent damage around the edges, but otherwise has three distinct degrees of patination, the oldest of which is at the proximal end of the dorsal surface and is subsequently mostly flaked on that face. The ventral surface is unpatinated. There is no polishing evident on either face.
