A silver penny of Charles I dating to the period AD 1625-1649. The coin appears to have been clipped. Obverse depicts a crowned Group D bust facing left with I behind the head and an inner circle. Reverse depicts an oval shield with garniture and no inner circle. The inital mark is two pellets. North 2271 (North JJ, 1991, English Hammered Coinage Volume 2,Spink & Son, London p 163).
