A copper alloy Medieval seal matrix dating from about AD 1250 - 1500. The matrix edges are damaged, making most of the legend illegible. The circular matrix has a facteted conical handle terminating is a lozenge shaped knop with a triple collar. The central motif depicts a hare with long ears extending behind the head, holding two dog (resembling standard poodles) on leashes in front of him.
The hare is carrying a pole over his shoulder with his catch suspended from it, possibly a human suspended by his ankles. The fragments of the legend which are visible read: "(MLIS C[...]OR(N)T[...]". The matrix is 22.8mm tall, 20.6mm diameter and 9.1g. It has a brown patina, with a grey colour where the edges are damaged.
Compare NLM-2CDE65 (same design though described differently) and IHS-BBD2D2 which have more information about matricies on the theme of "the world upside down".
