A lead alloy Medieval seal matrix probably dating from AD 1150 - 1400, but sadly damaged and almost illegible. The pointed oval matrix has been bent across the middle, and then straightened, leaving stress marks in the metal, and is also scraped across the damaged area, flattening the design. What can be seen of the legend appears to read: "+(S')[...](WE)ON[...]OI(WIL)" and the central motif is illegible. There is a raised rib along the centre of the reverse, with a flattened suspension loop or handle at one end, the end where the legend starts. The matrix is 28.9mm long, 14.6mm wide and 5.3mm thick. 8.94g. The lead has a light grey patina, which is damaged in the centre.
