A complete lead or lead alloy unifaced token of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1400 to AD 1800).

The token is sub-oval in shape. The obverse depicts a leaf or tree design consisting of a central raised vertical line, with upward angled, diagonal, curved lines from the central line. There is a horizontal line at the base one either side of the central vertical line (Powell Type 17). The reverse is undecorated.

The token has a diameter of 23.7 mm and is 2.4 mm thick. It weighs 5.6 g.

The token is a mid brown in colour with an even patina. Abrasion caused by movement whilst within the plough soil has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail.

Lead tokens are a frequently occurring find, with a variety of different designs. Tokens like this, were used as tallies or as replacement low denomination coinage during the Medieval and Post Medieval periods.
