Fragment of a cast copper alloy harness pendant from Roman military equipment, irregular break where upper part missing, surviving lower part of pointed leaf-shape tapering to a knopped oval terminal projecting forwards from base. Body and knop hollowed on reverse with a projecting integral rivet (projects 5.5mm) at the junction between the two. Extant height 36mm. Extant width 28mm.Cf. Similar pendants in Oldenstein (1976), Tafels 29-30 and an example with a projecting rivet on the reverse in Nicolay (2007), pl.88, type A7, no.259.1. 2nd-3rd century.
