The iron ring is essentially undateable and undiagnostic. Report by J Farley and I Leins. Analysis by Susan La Niece & Antony Simpson: Non-destructive X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF) was carried out on the surface of two items associated. XRF detected only iron and manganese on the ring: the blue powder on the surface is a corrosion product of iron. There is nothing distinctive about the composition of this ring by which to date it.
