MOUNT

Unique ID: ESS-2B4168

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Copper alloy mount. This mount is subtriangular in plan. Extending from the centre of the mount is an integrally cast, elongated, rounded cone with a slight bend. The object is 26.64mm long, 15.62mm wide across the body of the mount, 10.7mm wide across the bottom of the cone and weighs 18.68g. It has an even dark brown patina.Though crudely made, this object is probably a phallic mount of Roman date. Phallic objects are often associated with the military, but Crummy does not discount a civilian link with such objects.
