Copper-alloy purse bar of LMMC type A1, with an oval suspension loop and a central block in the shape of a shield. There are two incised lines in the shape of a cross on one side of the central block, but this pattern has been disrupted by an oval casting flaw. The central block is drilled and fitted with a swivelling oval loop which is lozenge-shaped in cross-section; the top of the loop has fractured and there is about 1 mm of the metal missing. There is a moulded, stylised, zoomorphic head to either side of the central block, gripping the side arms, which are circular in cross-section, in its mouth. The side arms are stepped or taper after a further 16 mm from the edge of these mouths, and are missing their terminals; each side bar is 40 mm in total from the edge of the central block and the total width of the purse bar is 95 mm. The diameter of the bar is 7.2 mm; the block is 15.8 mm long by 13.2 mm wide and 9.4 mm in thickness; the loop is 29.5 mm long and 20.6 mm wide and 3 mm in thickness. It dates to the late 15th or early 16th century.
