Possible Islamic, arabic or near eastern coin. Probably from the reign of Harum-al-Rashid (170-193 AH [786-809 AD]). Below the reverse of the coin is (Al-Fa dl). The obverse is badly corroded and therefore the mint is indistinct.

The occurance of similar cut silver arabic coins (and silver artefacts) has been explained through contact with the Viking or Anglo-Scandinavian trade routes.
