POWDER MEASURE

A lead gunpowder measure used by soldiers during the Civil War. The item consists of a small lead container which would have originally had a circular diameter of around 19 mm. It has now been crushed out of shape. The walls of the measure are 18 mm tall. At the base of the measure is a small loop, now embedded in the side of the object. There would presumably have been a similar loop on the other side of the object, but that side has been severely damaged. The item is 17th century in date.
