A copper alloy Medieval mount probably dating from AD 1200 - 1400. The flat mount is rectangular but with the corners recessed. There is an empty rivet hole in each of the two projecting short ends. The decoration is a raised voided cross fleury within a circle. The central void is filled with red enamel, and the circle is filled with blue enamel forming a background. There are circular terminals at the end of each arm of the trifoliate cross arms. There are traces of gilding. The reverse is plain. Compare the harness pendant IOW-87E673, and the straight sided mounts SF-B4FAB0 and LEIC-B3D761 which all have a very similar deisgn. The mount is 37.5mm long, 26.4mm wide and 2.4mm thick. 9.55g.
