Medieval buckle (mid 12th to mid 13th centuries): The copper alloy buckle frame is a 'D' shape with a narrowed and off-set strap bar. The loop of the frame tapers in width towards the strap bar, and is at its widest at the apex of the frame. The loop is sub-oval in section. The surface is undecorated. The pin is an elongated triangle which is curled around the strap bar. The frame has an incomplete mid green patina. It measures 25.58mm wide and 19.75mm long from the apex of the frame to the strap bar. It weighs 4.12g.

Similar buckles are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (2002), Nos. 303 and 304 and these are dated to the mid 12th to mid 13th centuries.
