An almost complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy mount (c. 1600-c. 1700).
This mount is lozenge-shaped in plan, convex at the front and concave at the rear. One end has a double parallel ridge with a terminal knop and the opposite end has a small rounded knop. At the front, there is a raised saltire cross with a pellet at the centre. The rear face has two integral spikes, one at each end. These are circular in cross-section and one is incomplete.
The mount has a brown patina with gilding at the front.
