A cast copper-alloy Post-Medieval hooked tag of Read Class E Type 3. It comprises a circular plate with concave back face and moulded decoration on the domed front face. This consists of a central four-petalled double rose motif within a cabled border. At the top of the plate is an integrally cast trapezoidal loop and from the base extends an integral hook that is rectangular in form, trapezoidal in section and tapers to backwards facing sharp tip. The entire object measures 36.92mm in length, 14.39mm in width, 2.76mm in thickness and weighs 2.70g.
This is an incomplete Post-Medieval hooked tag with near identical parallels published by Read in his Class E Type 3 Post-Medieval hooked tags with circular plates (Read, 2008: nos. 342-346). This indicates an early Post-Medieval date for the current example, probably in the 16th-17th centuries AD.
