A fragment of a cast copper-alloy Roman brooch of Hod Hill type, dating to the first century AD. The fragment consists of a portion of the central rectangular plate and most of the lower brooch body, without its foot; the reverse retains a small portion of the vertical catchplate. The rest of the brooch includng the head, hinge mechanism, pin, protruding side-arms, foot and most of the catchplate is missing due to old damage. Traces of raised decoration in the form of four raised vertical ridges on the brooch body and six raised horizontal ridges on the tapering lower body remain, along with traces of tinning on the surface. The fragment measures 27.06 mm long, 12.76 mm maximum width, 1.31 mm thick (at centre) and weighs 1.85 grams.
