Medieval (late 13th to mid 15th centuries) strap end: The incomplete copper alloy strap end has a single plate remaining which is a sub-rectangle in plan with one terminal being pointed. The opposite terminal, has a sub-trefoil perforation on the edge as decoration and a rivet hole either side, filled with a copper alloy rivet. On the reverse of the plate, there is an outline, in traces of solder, of a spacer. The strap end is undecorated on the outer face. The surface has a shiny, grey/green mottled, incomplete patina. In length the strap end is 42.29mm, 17.61mm wide and 4.58mm thick. It weighs 3.76g.
In Egan and Pritchard (2002) there are similar strap ends, particularly No. 660 which date to the late 13th to mid 15th centuries.
